“Behold the Sabbath transcendent in blessings on which Christ hath slept, and shall rise on the Third Day.”
On Holy Friday evening, 21 April 2022, we celebrated the Orthros of Great and Holy Saturday with the singing of Lamentations in front of the Epitaphios – the image of the body of Christ in the grave. But already on that most mournful day, we hear the first indications of the forthcoming and inescapable victory of Life over death – Christ’s Resurrection. At the conclusion of Lamentations, the choir sang Evologitaria of the Resurrection, anticipating the coming of the day of Great and Holy Pascha!
