The Antiochian Orthodox Society held its Annual Charity Dinner on Saturday 16th November 2019 in the Palace Suite at the Royal Garden Hotel in London. The event was even more successful than last year. The capacity of the hall was exceeded which made it difficult to arrange the seating for the 360 guests. The atmosphere was very friendly and full of joy and happiness. Everyone without exception enjoyed all parts of the evening including the food, the wine and especially the entertainment programme which was lead, for the second year running, by the famous Lebanese musical artist Ghassan Saliba accompanied by the maestro Tarik Saeed and his band. Mr. Ghassan Saliba is a well known artist who started his journey with Fairouz and the Rahbani Brothers. The Chairman Dr. Samir Hraiki welcomed the guests in a short speech followed by His Eminence Metropolitan Silouan and H.E. Mr. Rami Murtada the Lebanese Ambassador who was present with his Mrs. Jamal Murtada. Also was present H.E. Mr & Mrs Omar Al Nahar the Jordanian Ambassador, Miss Meisoon Shorafa representing the Palestinian Ambassador, Fr. Philotheos Mavrakis representing His Eminance Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateria and Great Britain and Archimandrite Philip Hall. The guests also included representatives from other churches such as Father Chafiq Abu Zeid from the Melkite Parish, Father Fadi Kmaid from the Maronite Church and Rev. Dr. William Taylor from the Church of England. In summary, the event was exceptionally successful this year, Mr. Ghassan Saliba entertained the guests till the early hours of Sunday morning. This success would not have been achievable without the hard work and dedication of the Chairman Dr. Samir Hraiki with members of the board and the support and high generosity of the donors to whom we are very thankful and grateful. It must be mentioned here that the Antiochian Orthodox Society is committed to help and support all the needy people and it donates and support more than 20 other charitable organizations in the United Kingdom and in our home countries.
